I like to think of save the dates as an opportunity to make that ultimate first impression with your guests! After all, they are the very first thing your guest will see that gives them a glimpse at what to expect on that magical day!
So, here are 5 save the date ideas that will rock the socks off your guests (because sock-less guests is what we're after, right?)
1) Watercolor City Map
One of my personal favs here! You can use a custom watercolor map to show off the amazing city your wedding is taking place, or let it tell the story of your relationship! Like where you first met, had your first kiss, and where he popped the question!
If elegant and sophisticated is what you're going for, calligraphy is the way to go! Having save the dates that feature calligraphy will give a sneak peak at that classic elegance you want your wedding day to have. If you're interested in learning calligraphy for your wedding (to save some serious dough and get the added benefit of relaxation), grab my recommended supply list for beginners!
3) Venue Illustration
Got a gorgeous wedding venue that you are obsessed with?! Let's highlight it on the save the date with a custom venue illustration! This also gives your guests a sneak peak at what to expect on your wedding day, too. You can't go wrong there!
4) Love Story Timeline Illustration
This idea is similar to a city map idea above, but it's perfect if all those precious memories didn't take place in the same city. I love custom illustrations that feature the university hall where you two first met, the Italian restaurant where you had your first date, the mountain ridge where he popped the question, and the little white church where you will say "I do!"
5) Floral Wedding Crest
If you are going for a wedding that has hints of dreamy, fairytale enchantment, there is no better way to show this than with a regal watercolor wedding crest! Best of all: your custom crest can include personal details like your wedding flowers or a charm with your dog's name (like the one above!) This crest can then be featured on your invitation suite, ceremony program, cocktail napkins, and more!
So, let's use those save the dates to make an amazing first impression with your wedding guests! When exactly should you send your save the dates? Check out this blog post where I lay out all the details!
